Parents Notify is for parents and guardians who are looking for a new Special Class or Special School placement for their child for September 2027.

When do I need to complete the form?
Parents and Guardians seeking placement for their child in a new special class or special school for school year 2027/2028, should continue to notify NCSE.
The NCSE is now processing submissions completed by September 1st 2026, and is continuing to accept forms completed after this date.
If you do not have the required documentation yet, please submit the form anyway.
Supporting documentation can be provided until the 15th of September, or as soon as possible after that date. Your local SENO will contact you directly if you have completed the form without the required documentation attached.

– Your child’s PPS Number
– Date of birth
– Home address
– Eircode
– Relevant professional report(s)
– Student Support Plan (if available)

What is a Letter of Eligibility?
A Letter of Eligibility confirms that your child meets the Department of Education and Youth criteria to apply for a Special Class or Special School placement.
You require this letter when applying for special class or special school places, so please keep it in a safe place.
If the criteria are not met, your SENO will write to you to explain this. The SENO is available to discuss the next steps with you.

Your local SENO reviews the information and documents.
They will:
– Contact you if they need more information.
– Help if you experienced any difficulty uploading documents.
– Talk through the eligibility criteria for Special Classes or Special Schools if you have questions.

– Write to you with the outcome of the review.
